My rating: 7 out of 10

Each year many new phones are released by many different companies and are always upgraded. New iPhones are released each year as well that introduce new features and technology. The old iPhones still work as well and the iPhone 8 is no different. It is available at a decent price and is good for anyone on a budget and is good for anyone who wants a good phone but doesn’t want the latest technology. The phone is good enough for everyday use and to get what you need done.

Today I will be helping you decide if the iPhone 8 is something that you might want to buy for yourself. It has a nice design that is fresh and looks good. The phone is easy to use and navigate and it is not cluttered. It is well organised as well as fast and reliable making it quick and easy to get done what you want to get done when you need to get it done. The phone also has Siri just like all other iPhones making it even easier to use and allowing you to use your phone with just your voice.

Overview

The iPhone 8 has a nice design that is fresh and easy to use and is not cluttered. It has a 4.7 inch Retina IPS LCD touchscreen display with a good resolution that is clear and easy to see. It has a 3D touch display and home button and a 12 megapixel rear camera with a Quad LED dual tone flash and 2160p as well as 1080p HD video recording. There is also a 7 megapixel front facing camera with 1080p HD video recording and support for face detection which is good for most users.

The phone has 2GB of RAM and 64GB or 256GB internal storage depending on which one you choose. The internal storage is not expandable because there is no Micro SD card slot. The iPhone 8 is powered by ios 11 and it is upgradable to ios 13.3 which is the latest Apple operating system. The battery life will last a dull day on a single charge even with heavy tasks and longer with just simple tasks. There is a loudspeaker but no headphone jack and there is connectivity features like WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, WiFi hotspot for data sharing and more.

The Benefits Of The iPhone 8

There are many benefits to using the iPhone 8 starting with the body because it is waterproof and dust proof. The display has 3D touch and so does the home button. The operating system is ios 11 which is one of the new operating systems and it is upgradable to ios 13.3 which is the latest apple operating system. The rear camera takes decent photos and great videos and the front facing takes decent selfies and great videos as well. There is also a Quad LED dual tone flash as well.

The battery life will last a full day on a single charge even with heavy tasks and longer with simple tasks. Depending on what you do you may only have to charge your phone every 2-3 days. There are two different storage options available to suit your needs and they both offer a good amount of storage. The phone supports 3G and 4G which is easily enabled by an option in the settings meaning you will not have to upgrade your phone after 3G has been switched off. Apps are fast and the internet works fast and well and is good and reliable.

Where To Buy

The iPhone 8 is available in carriers such as Telstra, Optus and Vodafone and also in post offices, supermarkets and electronic stores. It is also available online at places like ebay, amazon and kogan. If you buy it in a carrier it will be locked to that network and if you buy it a post office or electronic store it is usually locked to a certain carrier. But if you buy the phone online and it will come unlocked and you will be able to avoid unlocking fees which is usually around $80 for most phones.

The phone will come unlocked and ready to use with any sim card from any carrier without any problems or limitations. If you buy the phone in a carrier you will have the option of buying the phone outright or putting on a month to month plan starting from $62 per month. If you buy the phone online it will save you money because it is cheaper and it will come unlocked which eliminates the unlocking fees. You will be able to put your phone on a bring your own phone plan which includes data and start from $15 per month and you can pay more if you like.

Is The iPhone 8 For Me?

The iPhone 8 is a great phone but it does have it`s positives and negatives just like all other smartphones starting with the body. It is light weight and waterproof and dust proof. The display is clear and easy to see and the design looks great and fresh. The cameras take decent photos and HD videos and the rear camera has an auto focus. The battery life lasts a full day and the phone supports 3G and 4G networks. There are two storage options available and there are plenty of features.

The downsides though start with the screen because it is not as big as some user might want. There is no Micro SD card or headphone jack which is something that a lot of users need and want. The phone ships with a lightning to 3.5mm adapter which means you can plug headphones into your phone using this adapter. ITunes is still required for manual music upload and there is no fast charger provided in the box. If you want to use a fast charger you will have to buy one but it is expensive. The video camera still only records Mono audio for videos.

Conclusion

The iPhone 8 is a great smartphone all in all and it has a lot of great features. The design is nice and the display is clear and easy to see. It is light weight and waterproof and dust proof. The cameras take decent photos and HD videos and the rear camera has an auto focus. The battery life lasts a full day on a single charge even with heavy tasks. There are two storage options available and the phone supports 3G and 4G networks. There is no radio, Micro SD card slot or headphone jack. The phone comes with an adapter for using headphones and iTunes is still required for manual music upload. There is no fast charger in the box and the one available is expensive. The video camera still only records Mono audio for videos. The best place to buy the phone is online because it is cheaper and it will save you money and the phone will also come unlocked. Hi, nice review, I have always been a lover of the iPhone and have been looking into updating. The only issue I have with this one is its size. I find as I am getting older I prefer a larger screen. Bit of a pain when looking as this is a great price for an iPhone.

    Thanks for this great review
    Cheers
    Jo

I’m needing to buy & upgrade my phone in the near future. Your iPhone 8 review came at the right time. It looks to be a good solid phone for everyday use which is what I’m looking for. I’ll buy my phone online as the information you gave show the pros of doing it this way, mainly that it comes unlocked & not locked into one carrier. Thanks,, Bob
